How I was lead to Wealthy Affiliate
I was doing random searches for online business ideas after I had started my own website for my culinary skills called Meandering Chef. While looking for affiliates to promote on that site. I had discovered a few affiliate opportunities other than the major companies, but to no avail most of them seemed like scams.

One of them I found on YouTube that I had invested a few hours into reading and watching a few videos seemed to be overly vague and just looking to catch a buck. I later found a review of that particular marketing company which only proved my suspicions, but thankfully due to that review I was led to Wealthy Affiliate.

First Impression

I was astonished at first, because I didn’t think I would stumble onto anything so quickly. When I first got onto the site I automatically assumed that it was going to be another site just looking to take my money as soon as I got here, but I was so glad to be wrong.

The site offering free aspects of it that allowed me to learn quickly, and pick up some things that the other site would keep as “secrets to online marketing,” or some other such nonsense. In the first page along there seems to be ton of resources available even for the non-Premium member.

Many people may be wondering what they will be selling within Wealthy Affiliate, but that answer isn’t an easy one. To get started once you go premium they give you the option to promote Wealthy Affiliate, and training to get started promoting them.

Although you may think that Wealthy Affiliate is a MLM (Multi-level-marketing) company, but they are not an MLM company as only those that you recruit to the site will be the only ones that you can make money from.

If you chose you can use the info that you learn from them and sell your own products, or promote other companies by becoming an affiliate with them. Companies out there like Clickbank will allow you to become an affiliate and allow you to promote a great many products from their platform, and there are other companies similar to Clickbank.

If you don’t have a product to sell you can always look into drop shipping companies to get a membership with, and if you click that link on drop shipping it will take you to my blog about them, and provide you with more information.

The first 48 hours
I have only started and already I have had hours of videos and reading which has taught me a ton already. At this point I was simply just getting started, and had yet to unlock the potential of the Premium membership status for it’s benefits.

With the basic membership I have been able to start and build a website with step by step instruction (even though I already knew how to build one), but some tips while building where helpful, plus the added benefit of getting two free web domains (even if they are sub domains of a larger platform).

I was able to learn some things about the back office of wordpress that I didn’t know including but not limited to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The pages they offer me as a basic member are limited in several aspects, such as I am limited on theme options, and plugins that are available to begin with. These restrictions can make it slightly difficult to build a competitive website that will be appealing to the eye of the viewer.

Research Tools
As only a basic member I am very limited in research tools that are available to me. In one of the lessons Kyle (One of the co-founders) shows you how you can utilize one of their other platforms free of charge (for a limited amount of uses). This tool is invaluable to a novice online marketer such as myself.

It is a site called Jaaxy that allows me to do a keyword search to find viable keywords or phrases to find easier ways to get listed by the major search engines, so I can increase my site traffic. After doing several google searches trying to find a keyword search engine other than google itself that was free was proving difficult. If you need more info on keyword search tools and their use please feel free to click the link to my page about keyword search tools.

This great resources helps an online marketer, and not just an affiliate marketer find these keywords or phrases so they can plan out marketing campaigns. This site has a free option when you sign up, but you are limited to 30 keyword searches for free.

After your free trial runs out you are given the option to upgrade to a paid membership with Jaaxy in two levels Pro for $49 per month and Enterprise for $99 per month. I have used this a couple times already just in my other site, and for this one as well.

As of a couple months ago with you subscription to wealthy affiliate you get a free Jaxxy lite account to do your keyword searches!

In addition to the information provided by Jaaxy you can also find a wealth of knowledge in their archives, and also from other members of WA.

Site Navigation
While this site doesn’t have bad site navigation ability it was slightly confusing at first, but after playing with it for a while I have gotten much better at it. Some great features to the site navigation at Wealthy Affiliate is that when it comes to the lessons it offers a smart button.

What that means is that after I complete a segment or lesson if I have to leave the site for any reason when I come back all I have to do is simply click the button, and the smart button will take me back to the exact lesson that I left off on. The smart button is a brilliant tool in helping me get to where I need to be without having to look for it.

They have since updated the site navigation and added some useful tabs to get to where you need to go with a feed like interface much like the book of faces if you get my meaning. Ha.

From what I can tell so far this community on Wealthy Affiliate is top-notch. I will see the live chat feed pop up from time to time with a notification telling me that someone is asking a question, and they are in need of help with something. Those questions that pop up in my notifications appear to be getting answered almost immediately as there are often many in the community online at the same time.

I see lots of links in my navigation menus that would help me get many of the questions I have at any given time answered, and sometimes without the assistance of the community.

Success Stories

At this point in time that I’m writing this review of Wealthy Affiliate I haven’t really looked at success stories part of the site in depth, but I have glanced at it. I can tell you at this point, I see the site has great potential for anyone willing to put the time in.

In the last section of the free lessons Kyle goes into possibly goals one can have when using this program, and the goals are broken down in the lesson.

The fact that when reading the possible goal breakdowns I didn’t feel like any of them would be outlandish especially after going through all the other lessons.

It is a goal of mine to become a success story with this program!

Here is a link to some of those success stories with Wealthy Affiliate.

In Conclusion
To wrap things up I am really looking forward to where I can go with this program. I look forward to pushing myself day in and day out to get to my ultimate goals. I hope to make it to their conference in Las Vegas next year. I am very excited for this opportunity and wouldn’t miss it for the world!

  1. I’m a little confused about the message of the site. Are you suggesting to start association with the Wealthy Affiliate system or are you – according to your last post regarding the system – stating that you are not interested, but recommend it to others? The post also appears to be an advertisement for Jaaxy. Would you mind clarifying these points? Thank you.

    1. Thanks for the input Duncan, I have since went back and corrected that last couple of paragraphs, Thank you for pointing it out to me. I would most certainly recommend Wealthy Affiliate as I am also a member of WA, but if you or others aren’t interested in Wealthy Affiliate, I would recommend Jaaxy as a great tool for business owners, and website developers alike.

  2. Thank you for sharing your personal story about how you joined Wealthy Affiliate. I must confess that I am also a member of Wealthy Affiliate and I can vouch for the fact that there really are a HEAP of helpful tutorials and information for visitors who have joined up for free and are just having a casual look around. I use the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tool that you mentioned – Jaaxy. It has become part of my daily keyword search ritual and I would not be without it! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    1. Glenys thank you for visiting my site, and I have been a big fan of Jaaxy myself. I am glad you were able to pick something useful up from my articles. You are absolutely right about the amount of tutorials and information that Wealthy Affiliate offers.
